How did Thanksgiving get here so quickly? It’s just a day and half away and it feels like Halloween was just last week. This month has really flown by!
But, I am glad it is here. I love Thanksgiving. Maybe it’s the history behind it. Maybe it’s the big parade in the morning. Maybe it’s the stylish pilgrim fashions. Maybe it’s the jellied cranberry sauce that’s shaped like a can.
Most likely (if I can say this without sounding as mushy as Aunt Paula’s creamed corn), I love this holiday because I get to spend it with my family and friends. That includes my Telligent family, and that includes you.
I am very thankful to be a part of this amazing social community of ours. And as the manager of our community, I feel a bit like one of the early American pilgrims — journeying into a new territory, working with others to help them reach their destinations, while making valuable friends and connections along the way. Though, I have to admit, some days I just feel like the turkey.
The role of a community manager has its challenges, for sure. It is an ever-evolving role that means different things in different communities. As community manager, we tend to wear numerous hats: listener, connection maker, problem solver, brand evangelist, rule enforcer…the list goes on and on. I’m so glad to be among the ranks of those practicing and enhancing this role.
Many years ago, there wasn’t a job called community manager. Today, it is one of the most vitally important roles in the development of any online community. The role provides me with a chance to work directly with our customers and also with other community managers to exchange tips, thoughts, best practices and just overall ideas on how to enhance a community.
It’s an awesome job. Thank you for letting me be your community manager! I know I can’t be the only one thankful for this great opportunity; I want to hear from you as well!
